This week’s San Diego marine radio traffic opened with a serious search-and-rescue alert off Carlsbad State Beach, where the USCG issued a Pan Pan for a possible person in the water. The alert reported a 54-year-old male last seen about 50 yards offshore near lifeguard tower 26. The week also included a Navy safety-zone warning near Northwest Harbor on San Clemente Island, where a vessel was ordered to depart immediately ahead of imminent live-fire exercises, and a local boater's report of a flipped jet ski just outside the Shelter Island launch ramp.
